Heritage Community Crafts CIC

Heritage Community Crafts CIC runs craft workshops to teach traditional and modern craft skills to groups of teenagers and adults. We facilitate creative events to under represented groups of adults, seniors and teenagers, and those excluded from wider society.

For example:
Teenagers who have been excluded from mainstream education and attending pupil referral units.

Older African and Caribbean Seniors who are part of the ‘Windrush’ Generation, including those who served in the British Armed Forces for Great Britain during World War 2.

  • Gathering together in neutral spaces to engage in group activities
  • Public exhibitions are opportunities to learn and share
  • These activities connect individuals and our shared social histories
  • Learning new craft skills - upskilling
  • Learning how to price their items to sell online / at craft fairs and markets to provide extra income
  • Raising self esteem and having fun

We specialise in using recycled materials such as fabric and wood offcuts, broken crockery and shells. Including paper crafts: Origami, flower making, greeting card making. Mending / upcycling clothes, Knitting and crochet, Miniatures making (1:12 scale room boxes and furniture), drawing and sketching, weaving, decopage, mosaic making, vision boards.

HCC's founder, Elizabeth Joseph has over six years experience in designing and running creative crafts workshops for groups of adults. Including for Private Members Clubs, bespoke creative workshops for businesses, teenagers in PRUs and Seniors.

We teach these crafts in a modern environment with references to fashion, music and fabrics from different cultures.
