Heritage Community Crafts CIC

The African Caribbean Elders Association is a social and community charity for African and Caribbean older Seniors, who meet once a week at The William Morris Community Centre in Walthamstow.

We have spent the last three months working on an artistic work that was made during our Workshops, by members of ACEA and other similar African and Caribbean London Community Groups.

The artwork is called 'Home' and is based on the carpet design in the West Indian Front Room in the Museum of the Home. This installation, curated by Dr. Michael McMillan, explores the migrant experience of African-Caribbean families setting up home in the UK in the 1950/60s. It was exhibited to the public at The Barnet Multicultural Centre during Black History Month and at Barnet’s Windrush Stories Exhibition.

If you are a Gallery or business interested in displaying our group artworks, or commissioning an artwork, please get in touch.
