The Windrush Poppy Quilt

Funded by the Veterans Foundation

We designed this Quilt in the shape of a poppy and used African wax print fabric to make large round sequins. Hand sewn during 10 Workshops with the Barnet Sea Cadets, The West Indian Association of Service Personnel and Community groups in London.

It is to remember the African and Caribbean Servicemen and women who served in the British Armed Forces during World War 2. Size of Quilt: 85cm x 82cm

In the centre of the poppy is a quote from the late Jamaican-born Veteran Mr. Gilbert Clarke (1925-2026):
"I feel really proud that I did something for peace."

The Windrush Poppy Quilt is currently on display at: The Poppy Factory, 20 Petersham Rd, Richmond TW10 6UR
