The Windrush Quilt

This Quilt has been hand sewn by African and Caribbean Seniors who travelled to the UK during the 1950s-70s to work in the UK after World War 2. The Quilt making Workshops also took place in Community groups in London.

It is to remember their occupations and experiences over that time and throughout their lives. They worked as Nurses, in factories such as Hat-Making, Ballet Shoe Making and Bag Making. They started small businesses, worked as Bus Conductors, Shorthand Copy Typists and studied for exams as well as many other occupations. Size: 140cm W x 170cm H.
